This is a Metroid story. It's my first try, so don't laugh. And I'm still working on it.
1.
Receiving Distress Signal…
Area 16-Z…
Consa Region…
Planet Kals…
Setting Co-ordinates…
The computer read. Samus had been roaming the galaxy for months, waiting for some work. The Space Pirate activity since the trouble on Aether had died down, almost disappearing completely. There was the occasional raid on a satellite, however.
Entering Consa Region…
Planet Kals Located…
Setting Co-ordinates…
Here we go again, thought Samus. She had no doubt that this was Space Pirate activity.
Since Aether, the Galactic Federation had gifted her a new ship, and offered new guns, but she had rejected both. Samus didn’t know why, but she had a strange connection, both physically and mentally, to the items she had.
Locating Suitable Landing Terrain…
Entering Atmosphere…
The ship started to shudder. Warning lights started flashing, indicating something wrong with the hull. Samus began putting her suit on. Something was wrong. She had fleeting glimpses of her encounter with Dark Samus, as it had been dubbed.
Samus’ ship landed with a crash. Warning lights continued to flash. Samus got onto the lift and left the ship.
She looked around in horror. The ground was covered in red Phazon. The last Samus had seen of it was in the Impact Crater on Tallon IV. Knowing that her Varia suit wouldn’t hold against the deadly material, she got back in her ship and started looking through the data that the distress signal had brought with it.
Planet Kals. Planet deserted years ago. Scans indicate traces of Chozo existence.
At that Samus stopped reading. She had a flashback of being taken to Zebes by her “Grandpa Bird”, the Chozo that had taken her in. A tear came to her eye, when she caught sight of a figure amongst the Phazon. She left her ship for the second time and raised her gun. The figure turned and looked at her. It was horrible. The old face looked torn and scarred. It had a beak. It was Chozo. Samus switched to her Scan visor and scanned it.
Scan Complete.
Chozo originality confirmed in creature. It has been mutated by the properties of the Phazon. Quantities high in creature. Extreme caution advised.
Chozo, the word stuck in Samus’ mind. She switched back to the Combat visor and moved towards the edge of her ship. The creature moved towards her. It was definitely Chozo. It looked as though it knew her, though was unsure. Samus beckoned it forward, and it obeyed obediently. She was amazed that the Phazon hadn’t killed it, but then realized that it was dead. The creature’s eyes were glazed over. The beak was hanging off its face. She looked around, seeing in the gaps between Phazon, Chozo statues and Lore. She looked back to the creature, which was lying motionless on a mound of Phazon. She started to wonder how she was to move around.
2.
The history of the planet Kals is shrouded in mystery. It once served as a Space Pirate base, but they left because of the frequent asteroid crashing into the surface. The Chozo then found it and decided to set up a colony there, as they did with most planets. That went well, until a creature came to the planet on one of the asteroids. The creature was almost killed when it hit, and the Phazon was scattered far and wide. The Chozo took the creature in, but could not get close enough to examine it, as it radiated Phazon into the air around it.
But some of the Chozo examiners began to try to get closer. They found that their natural ability to adapt to environments protected them for limited time around it. But eventually it gave way, and the affected Chozo began to mutate, and eventually died. But the research they had gained from the creature greatly increased the Chozos understanding of it.
The creature, they found, was in fact made of Phazon. This worried the Chozo, as they had heard of a creature made of Phazon causing havoc on Tallon IV. They decided, as the Tallon Chozo had, to seal it away and have nothing to do with it. But one or two of them disagreed, as they were seeing similarities between it and one of the human creatures that had been taken in from Zebes. They decided to ask it questions, rather than just examine it. The creature would have none of it. It would shriek and struggle as if it were being attacked. This too worried the Chozo. They ended up sealing it away, along with their elders, to be guarded by the creature that would next arrive on the planet, Samus.
The Chozo succeeded in sealing their elders away, along with some of their great achievers. But afterwards, the remaining Chozo ended up being attacked and destroyed. The survivors went into hiding, waiting for the creature named Samus to arrive and help them. They sealed themselves up, behind special doors, and left behind upgrades for Samus to receive, to help her save their kind. The Chozo waited for years, eating their stores away, until, finally, they sensed a creature entering the planets atmosphere, they began to rejoice, and ration their stores so they could survive towards the rescue.
3.
Samus was resting inside her ship. Two days she had been on the planet, with no way of manoeuvring on ground level. The Chozo had been brought into the ship, and was being scanned inside and out, to find out about its death. It was then to be transported to one of the Galactic Federations ships in the area. Suddenly, the ships computer started beeping.

There is some remaining, Samus was thinking. I need to find them. I’ll send a transmission back…

Good, Samus thought. She sat back, waiting.
In a small cavern on the other side of the great mass of Phazon, a group of Chozo sat by their instruments. Suddenly, they started beeping.

Great Chozo, greetings. I am Samus Aran. I have received your transmission. I wish to know how to traverse the Phazon.

The Chozo squabbled amongst them, before deciding what to send back.
Samus jumped at the beeping computer.

Samus, you are infused with the blood of Chozo and Metroid alike. This means that you have a natural protection against the Phazon without your powersuit. We will send our co-ordinates. Pleases hurry.
Translation Complete…
Samus. You are infused with Chozo and Metroid blood alike. This gives you a short-lived protection against Phazon. However, the powersuit cancels out this protection. We are sending our co-ordinates. Please hurry.
Quickly downloading the co-ordinates of the Chozo position, Samus took off her powersuit and, carrying it with her, left her ship.
